Whirlwind

My baby boy is six weeks old today. How did this happen?! I think it's completely unfair that time goes so quickly, and that those first precious weeks of baby's life, Mom spends a little out of her mind. Exhausted, emotional, overwhelmed. I would just cry over how in love I am with my sweet baby. I feel like I'm finally getting into the swing of things, and getting closer to getting back to "normal." I'm sick of sick. Gavin spent three out of the first five weeks of his little life with a horrible cold. It was so sad. I was glad he didn't get RSV, but the poor kid had to suffer more than a tiny person should. Aside from that, the girls both had ear infections, I'm on my second sinus infection since he was born, James had strep throat and the stomach flu, and Ruby just threw up this morning. I am ready for everyone to be healthy!

Gavin has started smiling and it is adorable. He seems so little to be smiling such big grins, and we love it. The girls get so excited when he smiles at them, and so do the rest of us! He's growing like a weed! I weighed him the other day when Isabelle went for her Kindergarten checkup and he's already a whopping 12 pounds! My babies tend to chunk up quickly, but he's even ahead of the girls. I think he's going to be a big boy- the doctor has even been shocked at his weight gain.

Gavin is so sweet! He really is such a good baby. He loves to be held. He loves to eat. And he only cries if he wants one of those things. He would prefer I hold and nurse him all night, but luckily he's starting to sleep a little better at night.  We are SO in love with him. The girls adore him. They can't get enough of him. Ruby is always hugging and kissing him. I'm sure he thinks, "here she comes again!" I just love snuggling him. I have always loved the time I get to spend nursing my babies. I love looking at his cute wrinkly forehead and the sweet little wrinkles under his eyes. He is just so dang sweet! I am trying to soak up his newborn-ness since he's changing so quickly. I love that he knows me and snuggles right up to me and that he settles down just being in my arms.

There's so much I could say about Gavin. I could go on and on about his sweetness. I am so thankful to be his mommy. He has brought us all so much happiness!

Here are some of my fave pics from the first weeks of Gavin's life...

These were taken the day before Gavin was born. They're super special to me.

First time meeting their brother. I'm so glad we got this on video. It was the sweetest thing ever- they were so happy and excited!

Occasionally he'll hang out in his swing.

Ruby LOVES him. I love this picture!

In heaven with her two babies.

I found these three all conked out when I came down one morning after one of our difficult nights!

This is my brother's special hold. I just love how this shows Gavin's forehead wrinkles!

Isabelle is such a sweet big sissy! She has been a big help for me!

I just love those lips!

This is Gavin's one month birthday!

First time he actually got to get in the water. His cord took forever to fall off.

Sportin' the faux-hawk!

Everyone gathers around Gavin to adore him!
